Smoking is contributing factor because it makes difficult for a person to control its blood sugar.

People who are over and above 40 years of age are more at risk for diabetes. Though recent graph has shown an increase in younger adults.

* Family history:

If you have a family history of diabetes, then you are at greater risk for diabetes. Anyone in your relation like parents, sister or brother

* Gestational diabetes:

Women who have diabetes during their pregnancy are more at risk of having diabetes later in life.

If you can associate one or more of these risk factors with yourself then you need to be extra cautious about having diabetes. Just a simple glucose test is all you need to know if you have diabetes or not. The early you know about your diabetes condition, the easier it is to manage it.

One can easily live a healthy and fulfilling life if they choose to manage diabetes and keep their sugar levels under control. Many times, making few lifestyle changes are all you need to control diabetes. Exercise, eating healthy, losing weight, becoming more active can help in prevent diabetes. Talk to your doctor if you have concerns regarding diabetes. It is possible to successfully treat diabetes. Get the upper hand by treating diabetes by preventing and diagnosing diabetes before it catches you unaware.
